Our History

In 1907, Mr. James Kirk felt the urge to start a work for the Lord to bring neglected truths to the neglected people of his hometown. Accordingly, on March 17th, following some preliminary services in the old Music Hall, the Flushing Gospel Mission was organized and began meeting on Station Hill. Later renamed the Flushing Alliance Church, the congregation relocated to Main Street in the 1920s, and again to its current location, on High Street, in March of 1968.

Many souls have met the Savior in this place, and many, too, have gone out in full-time service for the Lord: some to foreign missions, some to the pastorate, and some to Christian colleges. Our current pastor, Nathan McKeen, was called from within our congregation in December of 2018, to follow in the footsteps of faithful men before him in shepherding our people and preaching Jesus Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, & Coming King.

"I’ve yielded to God, and I’m saved ev’ry hour;

I’ve yielded to God, and I feel His sweet pow’r;

I’ve trusted His promises, not one has failed

Of all His good word, tho’ the tempter assailed."

     From the hymn Yielded to God, James M. Kirk, 1936
